Lauren Ottenhoff

M.A., LPC, N.C.C.

I specialize in working with children and adolescents who are suffering from anxiety, having trouble navigating their social world, or are having trouble controlling themselves.

As an elementary school counselor in Fairfax County for seven years, I had the unique perspective of seeing what children are struggling with at school on a daily basis.

I will provide a safe space for your child to feel comfortable talking about what is bothering them, and I will help him or her develop coping skills that they can use throughout challenging times during their life.

My therapeutic approach is a combination of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), humanistic therapy, and play therapy.

My goal is to provide a safe, positive, non-judgmental environment for my clients to work through their struggles.  I use evidence-based practices to provide treatment that is compatible with an individual’s strengths and goals. I also collaborate with parents who are going through this challenging time and help support their family.

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Washington College. I completed a Master’s degree in School Counseling from Marymount University in Arlington, VA and I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC).
