Enhanced Mental Wellness Consultations at Family & Child Therapy
Our Enhanced Mental Wellness Consultations are designed as a supportive space for understanding and navigating mental health challenges, focusing on education, prevention, and exploring effective options for care and support.
Our team of experienced clinicians can offer specialized consultation services:

1. Mental Wellness Discussions
These sessions offer targeted guidance and point towards additional resources or support. Available as either one-time or multiple sessions if a follow up is helpful. They aim to educate and proactively address potential mental health concerns.
Participants in these discussions can expect to:
• Gain insights into their mental health, focusing on strengths and areas of growth.
• Learn about avenues to support mental health and wellness.
• Explore individualized options for their current needs in a safe space with experienced mental health professionals.
Important considerations for these discussions:
• We do not conduct comprehensive evaluations or diagnose mental health conditions.
• These discussions are not intended for addressing severe trauma-related issues.
2. Guidance on Mental Health Care Options
Tailored for individuals experiencing mental health challenges, these sessions offer a chance to explore various approaches to mental health care in a supportive setting.
The sessions are beneficial for:
• Discussing concerns related to mood or behavior and exploring non-diagnostic support options.
• Receiving insights and practical recommendations for managing stress or emotional challenges.
• Exploring alternative approaches when current treatment strategies are not effective such as the Safe and Sound Protocol (provide link) (SSP), EMDR, or a Person Centered approach versus behavioral.
• Understanding and navigating educational support plans, such as IEP (Individualized Education Program) and 504 plans, ensuring that mental health needs are accommodated in educational environments.
Key aspects of these sessions include:
• We do not provide in-depth assessments or specific diagnoses.
• These sessions are not suitable for processing trauma.
3. Consultation and Advocacy Related to School and Mental Health Supports
Targeted consultation for parents/caregivers regarding supporting their child's wellness and experience in the school setting as it relates to their mental health needs. The education system can be confusing -- meet with a therapist who has experience working with school systems to discuss both formal and informal opportunities to work together to advocate for your child's unique learning and mental health needs in the school setting (ie. 504 plans, requested accommodations, consultation for school staff to understand your child through a different lens, and understanding the IEP process, etc.).
